Mrs Lisa Appleton - Teacher across the school
Mrs Appleton
Mrs Appleton has a BA(Hons.) in Literature from 2004-07 and Women's Studies and a Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Education at York St John University. She has many years of experience teaching mixed ages throughout Bedale CE Primary School.
Mrs Appleton joined Staveley in January 2008 and thoroughly enjoys the challenges of leading literacy and PSHCE within school. She loves teaching science, literacy and art and adding practical elements to learning.

Mrs Kathy Hartshorn - Teacher in Class 1 (nursery and reception)
Mrs Hartshorn
Mrs Hartshorn has a BSc (Hons) in Hotel and Catering Management from Oxford Polytechnic. This qualification led to her working for several years in the brewing industry!
After having her three children Mrs Hartshorn took on the role as a special needs teaching assistant before starting a 2 year PGCE course at the University of Cumbria. Mrs Hartshorn has worked in several local village schools, both in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, as part of her degree before joining the team at Staveley. Mrs Hartshorn enjoys teaching a fun, creative curriculum and takes full advantage of any outdoor teaching opportunities.

Mrs Melissa Moss - Teacher in Class 2 (years 1 and 2)
Mrs Moss
Mrs Moss has vast experience as a Nursery Nurse and HLTA though had always aspired to become a teacher. After 2 years she obtained a Foundation Degree specialising in Childrens Learning at Leeds Trinity. She then spent another 2 years gaining an Honours Degree with QTS specialising in Foundation and Early Years.
Since qualifying she has had many years experience in both Key stage One and Two in both inner city, church and village schools.
"I enjoy teaching a fun, creative curriculum and really making a difference."

Mrs Fiona Roberts - Teacher in Class 3 (years 3 and 4)
Mrs Roberts
Mrs Roberts has a degree in Psychology and German and a PGCE in Primary Education and has been teaching since 1998. She has taught in 2 schools in Huddersfield, where she has had experience of a variety of roles in school and taught children from nursery age to Key Stage 2.
After returning from maternity leave in March 2012, she decided to work part time and, following a family relocation to North Yorkshire, joined Staveley School in September 2013.

Mr Richard Howson - Teacher in Class 4 (years 5 and 6)
Mr Howson
Mr Howson has a BA (Hons.) in History from 2004-2007 and MA in British History at Newcastle University in 2008. After that he became a Teaching Assistant in Harrogate, initially working one to one with children with BESD before becoming an HLTA. In 2012-13 he took his PGCE at York St. John University.
He enjoys history and travel and takes particular interest in humanities and languages, especially French and German.
"I find a creative, cross-curricular approach to teaching and learning breeds a love of learning whereby pupils are able to actively construct their own educational development."

Mr Joe Cooper - Music Teacher
Mr Cooper
Despite being from a family of teachers, Mr Cooper was only tempted by teaching after two fantastic summers tutoring music and sports at an American summer camp. After a BA Combined Arts degree in psychology and sociology at the University of Leicester he completed his PGCE Primary at Durham University in 2004.
He has since worked at a variety of schools in Barnsley (his hometown), North-East London, New Zealand and Harrogate, including five years as a class teacher in Year 3/4, Year 5/6 and Year 2 at Western Primary School.
He now teaches Years 3 - 6 at Kirk Hammerton and music to all age groups at Staveley.
"Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my family and learning new skills and knowledge - particularly any facts and figures that could help answer quiz questions!"

Mrs Liz French - General Teaching Assistant in Class 1

Mrs French has previously worked at a local nursery where she gained experience and completed an NVQ level 2 and NVQ level 3 in child care.
Mrs French is thrilled to be part of our staff team and work with the children in Class 1.
"I love getting creative with the children and supporting them with their interests."

Mrs Julie Hobbins - General Teaching Assistant in Class 2
Mrs Hobbins
Mrs Hobbins joined Staveley Primary as a volunteer two mornings per week at Easter 2008, and has since then been employed as a General Teaching Assistant. Mrs Hobbins previously worked as a nanny in the surrounding area but has enjoyed the fun elements of working as a team member here at school. She enjoys working in a school environment, helping and encouraging the children to get the best out of themselves academically and socially.
"I feel I bring with me fun and show the children that it is OK to be a little crazy!"

Mrs Vikki Fox - General Teaching Assistant in Class 3

After 18 years in a clerical/administration role Mrs Fox was made redundant and took this opportunity to make a career change. In September 2012 she went back to college and studied CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools during which time she volunteered two days per week at Staveley in Class 2.
"On completion of my course I was fortunate to be offered a position in Class 1 and I am very excited to be supporting the younger children at the beginning of their 'big school' adventure."

Mrs Nicky Whittaker, General Teaching Assistant in Class 4
Mrs Whittaker
Mrs Whittaker joined Staveley School in October 2010 having completed a NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. She worked previously as a secretary before leaving to raise a family.
"I very much enjoy working with the children and helping them to achieve their best potential both in work and play. It is hugely satisfying seeing children have that 'eureka' moment!"
