School re-opens Tuesday, 8th January 2019

Our Nursery still has a few places left for enrolment from September 2018.  Should any parent wish to have a look around our Nursery to meet teachers and arrange free taster days, just get in touch.

Children are eligible to attend from the term following their third birthday.

I am delighted to welcome you to Staveley Primary and Nursery School. We are a small village school with big ambitions, set in the heart of our village community. Staveley Primary and Nursery School is part of a Federation of schools with Kirk Hammerton C of E Primary School. Through the Federation we seek to broaden the experience of children in small school settings and share the skills of our experienced and dedicated staff.

We aim to develop young people with active, enquiring and creative minds who have and continue to develop a deep-rooted love of learning.

We recognise that each child is an individual and that all children need to succeed and understand the wider context of the world community.

Myself and/or Mrs Appleton, Assistant Headteacher across Staveley and Kirk Hammerton C of E Primary Schools, would love to show you around and tell you more. Please contact the school office if you would to visit to school for a tour.

Executive Headteacher

TIG Federation Mission Statement

TIG Federation Mission Statement

Our mission is to develop young people with active, enquiring and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. We recognise that each child is an individual and that all children can succeed and can learn to work together as a school community.

The Ethos and Values of our federation are shown through our Aims and Objectives

  • To promote each child’s confidence and self-esteem whilst making their school experiences motivating, challenging and exciting.
  • To strive continually for high standards of learning and achievement from all children.
  • To provide a broad and balanced curriculum providing appropriate depth to meet the needs of each child.
  • To foster an enthusiasm for learning and encourage independent learners with enquiring minds.
  • To ensure all children have equality of opportunity regardless of gender, race, religion, belief, disability, social background and sexual orientation.
  • To promote a Christian ethos in our church school and a caring and empathetic ethos in our community school where all members of the school community feel valued.
  • To foster positive attitudes towards the environment.
  • To provide a safe environment in which all children can succeed.
  • To encourage self-discipline, tolerance of others and high standards of behaviour, both in school and in the wider community, including acceptance of, and respect for, cultures and beliefs other than our own.
  • To encourage staff to widen their expertise and support their professional development.

In our endeavour to achieve these aims, our objectives are:

  • To provide an environment that will motivate our children.
  • To encourage children to take a pride in their work and achievements.
  • To promote positive relationships within the school and encourage children to respect, value and care for members of the school and the wider community and the wider world.
  • To encourage positive attitudes and behaviour, where children are encouraged to learn from their mistakes.  Work in RE, PSHE and collective worship / assemblies supports these aspects.
  • To focus on the core subjects of English, Maths, Science, ICT and RE, allowing for differentials and progression and to ensure a broad curriculum within the foundation subjects.
  • To manage the school’s resources effectively, thus maximising the quality of children’s education.
  • To provide after-school activities which contribute to the children’s individual development.
  • To offer opportunities for reflection and discussion in assembly and class time and to nurture a sense of wonder in the world.
