Welcome to Staveley Community Primary and Nursery School

Our Nursery still has a few places left for enrolment from September 2021.  Should any parent wish to have a look around our Nursery to meet teachers and arrange free taster days, just get in touch.   We are also offering 4 free settling days.

Children are eligible to attend from the term following their third birthday.

Ofsted - “This school continues to be good and buzzes with aspiration and a sense of fun”.  We have small class sizes with experienced, caring teachers.  Pupils are challenged through memorable and worthwhile enrichment activities with a friendly, family atmosphere.

Our Nursery, Reception and Year 1 class is fully integrated and supported by the school with multi-sensory experiences and welcoming, where your child will settle quickly and easily

“We believe that all children are very unique and special in their own way.  We encourage children’s natural curiosity with authentic resources.  Our Nursery and Reception is inclusive and we promote mutual respect, togetherness, inspiration and kindness.”

I am delighted to welcome you to Staveley Primary and Nursery School. We are a small village school with big ambitions, set in the heart of our village community. Staveley Primary and Nursery School is part of a Federation of schools with Kirk Hammerton C of E Primary School. Through the ethos of the TIG Federation (Togetherness Inspires Growth) we seek to broaden the experience of children in small school settings and share the skills of our experienced and dedicated staff.

Our vision is:

'Together we grow a nurturing community of inspirational learning, insight and wisdom, flourishing in an environment where we feel safe and valued.'

Through living out our values Respect  Friendship  Compassion  Trust  Perseverance  we seek to grow our nuturing community and recognise that each child is an individual, that all children need to succeed and also should gain an understanding of the wider context of our local and world community.

Myself and/or Mrs Appleton, Assistant Headteacher across Staveley and Kirk Hammerton C of E Primary Schools, would love to show you around and tell you more. Please contact the school office if you would to visit to school for a tour.

Open Day 2021

TIG Curriculum Intent

We see our curriculum as starting at the heart (centre) of our curriculum. Learning in our schools is inter-connected and linked by transferable knowledge and skills that equip our pupils for life in modern Britain and provide cultural capital.

Problem Solving, Develop own Identity, Resilience, Independence

The aspects above are at the heart (centre) of our curriculum. Children in our federation will develop further resilience to failure and show increasing independence towards being confident. This will help them make their own decisions about solving problems in their learning and in social and emotional aspects of their lives.

Our World, Social responsibility, Community, Cultural Capital

Children in our federation live in a relatively rural part of the country. They are surrounded by beautiful countryside and small communities. They rarley experience life in cities or are given first-hand knowledge and experience of life in other contexts or cultures. For this reason, we have planned our curriculum to reflect their need to experience, gain knowledge of and be tolerant towards other cultures. We find our children love learning about their world and how diverse it is. We have planned our curriculum to have an ongoing focus on diversity.

Thirst for knowledge and learning

We promote a thirst for knowledge and learning so that children develop deeply positive attitudes towards their own ability to acquire new knowledge and to learn new skills. We do this through a focus on growth mindset and metacognition. By instilling in children a thirst for knowledge and learning, we promote a life-long habit of questioning so that children have the confidence to be creative and explore further. Our broad curriculum is planned to build on previous learning and to excite and stimulate the children so that it is relevant to their age and stage.
